Elegant twin buildings with a seamless central connection
Located in Porto Maho, overlooking the airport of Sint Maarten on one side and the island's lagoon on the other, this contemporary residential project is composed of two twin buildings strategically positioned at slightly different elevations. The first structure sits alongside Amazone Road, while the second is slightly elevated along Hudson Road, each enjoying a separate and private entrance. To ensure direct access to both buildings, the development integrates a dual parking system: an underground garage accessible from Amazone Road, and an exterior parking lot connected to Hudson Road. Both parking areas directly link to their respective buildings, offering convenience and discretion for residents.
The generous garden areas contribute to the project's sense of luxury, while the evenly spaced palm trees in front of both entrances add to its elegance and grandeur. At night, their illumination enhances the exclusivity and sophistication of the residence.
At the heart of the development, the twin pools serve as a central shared space. Designed on two separate levels, the upper pool gracefully overflows into the lower one, creating a natural cascading effect. Enclosed by the two buildings, this private oasis provides residents with an intimate setting, complete with long chairs for relaxing under the Caribbean sky.
Innovative architecture with a bold identity
What sets this project apart from other tall buildings of this island, is its striking architectural design, characterized by its signature cantilevered balconies. These bold protrusions define the facades, creating a dynamic rhythm that makes the buildings instantly recognizable amidst the island’s skyline. Structurally, the residence maintain a streamlined approach as each interior floor is identical, stacked perfectly one above the other. Only the balconies extend outward to create this iconic visual effect.
The adequate balance of different materials adds depth and elegance to the design. Small planters bring in natural elements to the buildings, while vertical open wooden cladding subtly connects some balconies together, reinforcing continuity across the facades. Floor-to-ceiling glass openings flood each apartment with natural light, with the most prominent feature being a curtain wall at the center of the main facades, maximizing transparency and openness. To counter the strong tropical sun, all glass surfaces are coated with a specialized film, ensuring optimal indoor comfort without compromising on brightness.
Through its bold yet efficient design, this project redefines modern island living. It stands as a testament to architectural ingenuity, offering residents both aesthetic excellence and practical sophistication, while elevating the architectural landscape of Sint Maarten.
